In recent months, many of my family, friends and colleagues have begun to put a voice to the uncertainty they feel about the world and our global economy. It truly is an unprecedented time for so many of us to be living, including our children and our parents. Everywhere we turn these days, there are reports of unemployment, foreclosures and declining investment values. What isn't being reported, however, is that many people are still gainfully employed, are making their monthly mortgage payments and finding comfort in simple values, such as family, love, friendship and faith.
I would like to challenge each and every one of you who reads this to begin creating a new version of reality; one that focuses on positive thinking, intentional living and being grateful for what you have. The energy created from this way of thinking and acting is so much more powerful than the alternative. The first step in this process is to take a break from the daily news. News often creates fear and serves to shape psychology rather than report facts. Operating from a place of fear creates a negative energy flow and often leads to self-fulfilling prophecies about the very thing which you are trying to avoid.
Remember, reality is a personal perception, a response to the world as we see it. It is entirely subjective and we ALL have a choice in how we react. So, walk with me in living intentionally. Extend your hand to those in need; smile at a stranger and take time each day to count your blessings - there are many. Know that you are loved and rich in the things that count. Believe you are successful and have faith in our country and the leadership we put forth. Take time to quiet yourself through prayer or meditation. These simple acts will not cost you a thing, but will provide a handsome return on your investment.
